The Way We Garden
In the garden we follow the principles of organic gardening and sustainability Organic gardening means working in harmony with nature, building up soil fertility and using natural pest controls. One of the key benefits of organic gardening is that food is free of chemical residues. |

The wild garden is home to natural predators such as hedgehogs, and every year the pond is alive with frogs, toads and newts. In addition to providing lots of winter fruit for birds, we use feeders to attract them. Sustainable gardening involves reducing waste and conserving energy and resources, re-using and recycling wherever possible. Some of the ways we do this are by making and using our own compost, harvesting water and using wood chippings for our paths. We also use green manures, such as grazing rye, over winter to increase soil fertility |

"A perfect Summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing,
the birds are singing and the lawn mower is broken."
